13 Ways To Find Highly Profitable Niche Markets and Online Trends!
Before you start looking for highly profitable niche markets and online trends I recommend you get what is considered by many as the best niche keyword research tool on the market, Market Samurai.
Niche marketing can be a great way of making money online, especially if you can create a product that is unique or superior within the niche you choose.
Niche marketing also gives you the opportunity to make money by promoting affiliate products that nicely fit within the market.
I’m often asked how I conduct my market research for hot niche markets and people are often surprised with the answer. I conduct my research as quickly and easily as I can, not because I’m lazy, but because the following websites have already done all the work for me (and you!).
Before I show you how I do it let me just give you some ideas on how discovering niche markets can be profitable; you can create a mini-site specifically to meet a need in the niche market you identify and make money from your own product and affiliate products; you can target niche markets on eBay and sell your products in your own eBay store or in the standard auction format; how about finding targeted niche forums and using your signature file to promote affiliate products. The ideas and the opportunities are endless!
To discover emerging niche markets it’s also important to keep you eye on ‘trends‘ to spot potential profitable niches.
1. Ebay
Just take a look at Ebay and scroll through as many of the categories you can, going deeper and deeper until you find ideas that you feel you can profit from.

The image above shows you how I went to Home and Garden, Wedding and Party Supplies, Wedding Supplies. You can either take this as the niche or look even deeper within that category for more ideas.
Brad Fallon and his My Wedding Favours is a perfect example of a massive company built around this type of niche; you’ve just found an easy way to research niches just like this.

2. Amazon
Again, following the same strategy as above, perform a deep search within the categories until you find a niche that you would like to step into. Head on over to Amazon now and give it a go!
3. Shopping

A very cool site for finding targeted niche products. Use the same method as above to find some great niches. Visit Shopping.com and see what you can uncover.
4. 43 Things

This is a great site for coming across niches that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. Watch what people are saying and see if you can create a marketable product to fill a void. Visit 43Things.com!
5. Clickbank, PayDotCom and E-Junkie
I’ve grouped these together as they are pretty similar and you will find some great niches by deep searching within the categories. Use the marketplace at the following sites and see what you discover; Clickbank, PayDotCom and E-Junkie.
Before you go on to read my other top tips for finding highly profitable niche markets I want you to know that affiliate marketing and niche marketing work so well together that by combining the two you can make a lot of money. I want you to head on over to Opportunity.com to discover the best affiliate training on the internet.
6. Shopping.com Consumer Demand Index

Shopping.com have kindly put together a Consumer Demand Index (CDI). This makes it easy for you to put your finger on the pulse of consumer demand. With millions of shopping searches conducted each week, the CDI reveals emerging trends and hidden gems while highlighting the hottest products; this really is a gold-mine of information.
You can view the top 100 searches for each of the Shopping.com categories and they even update the results every two weeks so you can easily identify new hot niches and emerging trends.
7. Ebay Pulse

Ebay.com has a wealth of information for teasing out niche markets, come-on, there are people making 5 figure incomes and more from selling chicken shed plans and the like; you should easily find a way of uncovering niche markets and finding what is currently the hot ticket item.
Ebay Pulse gives you the 10 most popular searches and the details of the most ‘watched’ items. Can you create a niche product around the ‘hot searches‘. When I was writing this post the iPod Touch was at number one for the most searched; could you write a review about the iPod Touch and promote it on your blog, what about a repair guide that you can sell on eBay.
If you want to be shown step-by-step how to create your very own profitable niche report and website then check out www.Daves-Online-Videos.com for full video tutorials.
Dave Guindon also has a really cool piece of software that helps you get a much more detailed look of Hot Items on eBay. I use the software myself and it is awesome. You can grab the software at a steal over at the aptly named HotItemFinder.com.
8. Amazon New Releases

Amazon is another company that has kindly done all the work for you. Simple visit the Amazon’s New Releases page and you will soon see the Hot New Releases and gain a wealth of ideas. I find the latest books are what give me my greatest ideas but you may find gold in one of the other departments. Maybe you can blog about the latest electronic releases and use your amazon affiliate link to send referrals to Amazon.
9. CB Top Sites

CB Top Sites is the number 1 directory and search engine for eBooks and software. The site is updated daily, making this a great resource for discovering the latest e-Book and software trends. Take a look at the e-Books, do you see any recurring themes? Can you create a filler report that complinents one of the popular e-Books already out there.
Head on over to CB Top Sites and take a good look around for a highly profitable niche you can tap into.
10. Magazines

Magazines.com is a great way to find amazing niches. If there is a couple of magazine publications on a particular topic you can bet with some certainty that you have a hot niche.
Magazine companies undertake all the market research for you as they are unlikely to risk publication in a no profit niche. It’s always better to find a couple of similar magazines on a particular topic as this proves that the niche is profitable enough to withstand competition. Can you create a product that compliments the offline magazines or maybe you could compete directly with them, the choice is yours.
Head on over to Magazines.com and search for a niche that you can dominate today.

Thanks for this great list of resources. They’re a great way to find a lot of niches, but it takes some extra work to figure out which ones would be profitable and are not already saturated. I think that second step is very important because without it you are likely to enter a really hot niche but won’t really be able to make much of it. -Mike
Definitely Mike, that will be a future post!

Thanks for reminding me of Shopping.com. I forgot about that source. Went in there and quickly found some items I’ll be able to post tonight that I didn’t think people would be interested in.

Lots of niches (and even more subniches) that can be had out there. I recommend that everyone should at least choose something they have an interest it.
That “exciting” new niche can sap your energy fast so you better be passionate about it if you want to keep plugging away after a few weeks.

Very true Gabe. If you are going into any market it is much better to be passionate about it than to plug something that you really don’t care about.
What a list of resources. This is great for me as I am always trying to figure out whats coming next and get there before everyone else does.
