Follow Up With Prospects: Turn Prospects Into Customers On Autopilot
Posted by Karl Foxley in Blog, Coaching, Email Marketing, Online Coaching
Do you have a lead capture form on your website? Are you capturing, at the least, name and email address? You need to be so start doing it as soon as possible.
I have recently been speaking to quite a few online business owners who have a lead capture form in place (to see an example of one look at the Website Promo Success lead capture on the right (no longer in use) – you may have to scroll down a bit) but they are failing to follow up with their prospects.
They have an ethical bribe, a reason for someone to share their details with you in the lead capture form, but they are missing the next crucial step, creating a follow up that they can send to their prospects. It can take 5-7 contacts with a prospect before they become a customer. What this means is that, on average, people need to be presented with your information 5-7 times before they will buy from you.
Now this is where the power of an email service provider (ESP) comes into it’s own because you can add messages into your autoresponder to go out in sequence from when a prospect signs up.
What you will also see from going through the mini-course is an effective strategy of following up with your prospects and how our ESP sends out our mailings to a schedule no matter when someone signs-up. As with our mini-course, you will want to offer your prospects some useful information, tools, news, etc so that you are keeping your message, your brand, your products and services in front of your prospects on a regular basis. What will work best for you and your website will be for you to determine but a few ideas of effective ethical bribes are:
Whatever you send to your prospects just make sure it is of value and they will thank you. This also establishes a level of trust between you and your prospects and this is something that cannot be purchased.
To start following up with your prospects and turn them into customers head on over to iContact and register for your free 15 day trial. This will allow you to put a lead capture form on your website and start turning visitors into customers.
Make sure you have a reasonable ratio of content/information/value based emails to sales emails, I recommend a ratio of 4 content to 1 sales. Be consistent and you will soon see that turning prospects into customers soon becomes turning customers into repeat customers; this alone can double, triple and even quadruple your profits.
Warmest regards,
