Who Else Wants Access To The Largest Database Of CommentLuv Enabled Blogs On The Internet

Posted by Karl Foxley in Blog, Blogging, Plugins, Wordpress

Before I tell you how to access the larget database of CommentLuv Enabled Blogs on the Internet I’m going to explain what CommentLuv is and why it is important for bloggers.

What is CommentLuv?

CommentLuv is, in my opinion, one of the best developments of the blogging era. It is a plugin that allows blog owners to reward their commentators, or show them some ‘luv’, by allowing them to leave a link back to their website.

For the blog owner:

A blog owner who installs the plugin onto their site will be rewarding their readers whenever they leave a comment by allowing them to automatically leave a link pointing to one of their very own blog posts. This encourages people to comment as they are being given a reward in the process. You can test this out by registering your site and then leaving a comment below as we are a CommentLuv Enabled blog.

For the blog commentator:

You are rewarded for taking the time to comment by leaving a direct link to one of your latest blog posts that acts as a visual cue for visitors to head-on-over, increasing the traffic to your website. Leaving a link to one of your internal pages is known as deep linking and allows you to build links to more of your website than just your home page.

I think you can see the potential in this and would agree that this is a great plugin.

The plugin was created by Andy Bailey and I have to give him full accolade for his continued evolution of the plugin and the supporting website that he has created. If you don’t have a WordPress blog you can now create one over at ComLuv saving you the hassle of installation and hosting (although I would always recommend having your very own site this could be a great addition to a content publishing strategy).

CommentLuv Start Your Own ComLuv Blog

When you visit the ComLuv site click on the orange ‘Get It Here’ button just after the text that says ‘Start Your Own ComLuv Blog For More Features‘.

If you have ever started a blog at WordPress.com then this will be instantly familiar to you, if you haven’t, just follow the step-by-step prompts.

Download The Plugin

If you already have your own self-hosted WordPress blog you can just go ahead and download the plugin.

CommentLuv WordPress Plugin

Visit the site and click on the big ‘Download The Plugin‘ button as shown in the image above. Installation is quick and simple, upload the file to your WordPress Plugins folder and then activate the plugin from within your admin area.

For an even quicker way to install the plugin just head to your plugins tab in your WordPress back office and click on the link that says ‘add new‘.

Plugins 'Add New'You’ll then be presented with the following screen.

Search For CommentLuv Plugin

You then want to do a search for the plugin as shown above (1) and you’ll then be presented with these results (2).

Now click on the ‘install‘ link.

Install CommentLuv Plugin

You’ll be taken to one final prompt screen where you will have to click on the ‘install‘ link again and then you are done. After you have activated the plugin you will be set to go.

You’ll find the plugin options under the WordPress ‘settings’ tab.

Here you will be able to choose what button you’ll want to us on your blog to show that you are using the plugin. There are also other options for you to play around with so be sure to check them out.

Com Luv Badges

Now, on to the important part, enabling your links to be pulled in by the CommentLuv plugin.

Register Your Blog

To be able to leave your links along with your comments on CommentLuv enabled blogs you will need to register your sites.

Register Your Sites To Benefit From The CommentLuv Enable Sites

Follow the registration process to be able to submit your sites. After registration you will need to input your sites main URL and feed URL so that the plugin can get to work whenever you leave a comment.

A Quick Guide To Getting Your Comments Approved

Some tips about leaving comments before you start commenting on people’s sites.

  1. Read the blog post so you can leave a relevant comment
  2. Provide value to the blog and the blog’s readers
  3. Never ever leave spam comments
  4. Use your real name unless the site owner states that leaving keywords in your hyperlink is allowed
  5. If you love the post, do more than leave a comment, retweet it, digg it, share it, bookmark it!

Now that is out of the way, it’s time to reveal how you can gain access to the largest database of CommentLuv Enabled Blogs.

The Database

Since the birth of the plugin there have been many blog posts revealing how to use Google search to find CommentLuv enabled blogs. The trouble with these is that the blogs that are often returned may not have been updated for well over a year.

Now, what you really want is freshly updated blogs that have readers that are your target market.

So how do you find them? At the CommentLuv website of course!

Comluv Enable Blog Search

As you can see from the image above, this search box will pull back all blogs that have been active in the past 7 days. Simply type in your keyword and click search to return blogs from that niche.

That’s it! Happy blogging, commenting and CommentLuv’ing.

Be sure to follow CommentLuv on Twitter.

To your success,

Karl Foxley

NOTE: Our CommentLuv issue has been fixed so you can now take full advantage of us sharing the ‘luv’.

I luv the comment luv plugin as not only does it provide an additional backlink (nofollow or dofollow) but it also indicates to the reader that whoever left the comment is an active blogger which can encourage the reader to “hop over”

Thanks for the tip for finding comment luv enabled blogs…it’s funny how the best way to do this is the least technical.

Just ran across this post. I love CL, but it’s kind of finicky. Some days none of my posts show up, some days they all do. Today the most recent ones aren’t showing up but some older ones are. Even though I’m registered some of the features behave as if I’m not.

Like I said, I use it on my blogs and really like it, but it doesn’t always behave nicely.

    Hey Karl,
thanks for this. I hope to see more people use comment luv.

I’m not quite sure exactly what you’re saying.

So this comment I’m making now–will link back to my url?

I though it already does–when I add my website url. Help?

      Hey Johnny,

You will need to visit ComLuv (link in post above) and register for an account (it’s free). When you have done that you will be able to enter your site details and this is how your site URL is ‘pulled in’ when commenting on Comment Luv enabled sites. The site link pulled in using Comment Luv is displayed underneath your comment.

I’ve been using CommentLuv for awhile now and I think it’s great. When someone takes the time to read my post and then leave a comment the least I can do is place a link to their site.

One thing I don’t get though is, why are some CommentLuv links “nofollow” and some are “dofollow”. Is there a setting that I’m not aware of. On my blog they are all “dofollow” but I’ve noticed a lot are “nofollow”.

      Hi Jeff,

I think this may be due to using a ‘dofollow’ plugin but I’m not too sure about it. If I come across the answer I’ll share it here (but I’m sure Andy Bailey over at ComLuv will have the answer).

I finally gave up on DoFollow after being an early adopter through Bumpzee – in the end I just got too much human comment spam, most of it generated by paid commenting services and flat out spammers. I still use commentluv on one of my WordPress blogs and it hasn’t caused too much of a problem.

Having said that, there is plenty of software out there that can hunt out relevant keyword targeted blogs using the plugin – that’s actually how I found this blog :-) I wouldn’t use such software to spam comment fields, but a lot of people will abuse it sadly.

Thanks for such a great write-up!

I think your CommentLuv isn’t working because there is the prototype library v1.6 loading and that’s getting an error which stops the CommentLuv jquery library from working properly.

The prototype library is probably being loaded by something in your theme, maybe a fancy graphic slider or featured post thing.

Thanks for sharing. Yes I have to agree, commentluv is great. But it’s real power comes when you comment, and do so prolifically. One or two comments, while it will leave at least one or two links, is not quite that life changing. But a few hundred comments a week or month will do the trick.

Totally agree. I should have included that in the post. I generally spend 1-3 hours per week commenting on blogs. I generally subscribe to blogs via my feed reader so that way I can often get in and be the first to comment (this often helps get more click-throughs).
