Have you heard of BlogEngage yet?
BlogEngage is a cool way to promote your blog posts, get visitors to your website and connect with fellow bloggers.
This is what it says on the site:
Blog Engage allows you to submit your Blog Article(s) that will be placed in queue and promoted by our members to the front page. The ideal of Blog Engage is to promote interaction between bloggers by “Engaging” with each others blogs. Interaction that builds up quality comments and interactive discussions.
Before I tell you how BlogEngage can make you a better blogger I recommend you head on over and register for an account.
You’ll then want to add the BlogEngage Wordpress Plugin to your WP blog to enable people to vote on your blog articles. You can see an example of the plugin above at the beginning of this post next to the TweetMeMe button. To test it out just click on it to see how it works! ![]()
Some quick tips on getting the most from your BlogEngage membership:
- Create a full profile with a picture so people can become familiar with you when you leave comments.
- Start voting on other peoples posts.
- Leave comments where appropriate on BlogEngage articles.
- Visit and comment on the blogs of BlogEngage members.
- Submit your articles for people to vote on.
- Add the vote button to your blog.
- Promote the community by writing about it.
- Interact with members on the dedicated BlogEngage forum.
- Become a contributing member in groups that you are interested in.
- Add your Google Adsense ID to become an Adsense revenue partner.
Now back to the main focus of this article…
How BlogEngage Can Make You A Better Blogger
BlogEngage can make you a better blogger by simply knowing that you are writing a blog post to share with the BlogEngage community.
You’ll want your article to be to a high standard, 1. so people vote for it and 2. so people vote for it more than they vote for other articles, giving your article even more exposure.
Let’s say I am going to write about my ‘fav’ all-time Wordpress plugins. Just by doing a scan of the BlogEngage archives I can see other similar posts and how many votes they have received.
For your article to get more votes you’ll have to make it one stand-out from the crowd of similar articles.
This is how BlogEngage can make you a better blogger, by encouraging you to think about the audience you are writing for and what value they will get out of what you share with them. Now, after I write an article I’ll be asking myself, ‘is this good enough to share with the members over at BlogEngage!’;
I’m sure being a member will do the same for you and your blogging.
If you are still with me at this point, I recommend you head to the BlogEngage site and sign-up for an account.
When you get there be sure to add me as a friend!
To your success,
Karl Foxley

Hey Karl, great article you have written here. I’m happy you’re taking advantage of our community. I think you have provided many neat tricks and tips other bloggers can use as well when trying to build their name in the community.
While on that topic of building friends I want to mention something. When I first started BlogEngage back in 2007 I remember I said the first thing I wanted to do was to start building relationship with bloggers. I made mistakes but the important thing is I accepted my mistakes and moved on with my goals.
Building relationships and interacting with bloggers is the key goal. I think you have the concept lets see how it works our for you.
I totally agree Brian, building relationships and interactions with fellow bloggers can have bigger pay-offs than the time you have to invest along the way.
Although I’m still finding my way around the BlogEngage community I can see the value in the work you are doing over there.
I look forward to becoming an established active member of long standing and seeing your future developments for the site.
Karl
I think what I will be focusing on over 2010 is integrating the entire website so we can have one username and password. Right now you need a username for the main site, forums and blog so it can be overwhelming.
I am working on it, it just takes money and time..
That is will certainly be a welcomed addition.
Here’s wishing you every success!
Excellent review Karl and you’re making a smart move by informing your readers about Blog Engage. I voted this up brother.
Yeah, I just found Blogengaged and joined recently it certainly does have potential. Although it still is not a free ride. You have to get involved with other bloggers don’t you!
Thank John for the feedback and the vote. I’m loving the header graphic (your pic) on the site!
Karl
Hi Robert,
Yeah you certainly do and I’m finding that part to be the most rewarding part as I’m connecting with fellow bloggers who I may not have otherwise met.
I look forward to seeing your posts on the BlogEngage network.
Karl
I also just found about BlogEngage and it looks like a promising service although I ran across a few technical bugs here and there but overall I love it.
Instead of just sharing posts, there are tones of things to do like vote, make money with GoogleAds, put the Vote widget on your blog and even a forum. Now it’s time to make some friends!

Hello Karl,
My first time here, having discovered you on Brian’s site. Your post is a great one – and explains many of the major reasons why BlogEngage.com was chosen as October’s “Site Of The Month” on my own site where tomorrow’s “Site Of The Day” will, I hope, meet with your approval..( it’s going to be FMS of course).
By the way, I’ve just Dugg this – and as soon as I’ve made a cup of tea … will be coming back to read much more of your site, where I’ve already discovered some excellent and valuable information.
Thanks and best wishes from Hamburg
Will

Hi,
Nice overview of the Blogengage. I have not been so active out there but recently I have started activity there but I am not getting the advantage of traffic so far. What is the best approach having traffic from blogengage?
What do you suggest? Being quite active there? Being constantly publishing there? Being involved with other users there?

I think the best way to generate traffic is to get involved, vote for posts, and submit your posts.
The post I wrote about BlogEngage did really well some maybe writing about the community will get you some extra attention (I know Brian, the site owner, often visits people who mention his site. Also, take a look at the posts that get the most votes and use them as a guide as to what the community responds to.
I hope that helps,
Karl
I feel you are right, I need to be involved there a big more than normal so I might drive some traffic advantage.
Yes, I have observed this behavior too that the site owners often visit their readers and the sites left over there. Probably, this is going to be case with me too.
Thanks for the kind suggestions.
