Set-It And Forget-It Affiliate Marketing

Today I want to share with you two ways we make money from this website in a ‘set-it and forget-it‘ way and how you can do the same.

If you scroll down and take a look at our footer you will see something that looks similar to the screen-shot below.

FMS SEO Footer

The two links I want you to focus on are the ones that say ‘Hosted by HostMonster‘ and ‘Designed by Elegant Themes

Hosted by HostMonster

Both links are affiliate links.

Both of these links generate new commissions every single month (on our old domain and on this one).

This doesn’t amount to a massive amount of income but it’s a great way to add a passive revenue stream to your site.

If you are using a self-hosted Wordpress blog you can edit the footer by clicking on Appearance, Editor and then selecting footer (footer.php).

Alternatively, you could put the links in your sidebar (blogroll).

HostMonster pays $65.00 per referral and Elegant Themes pays 50% on a $19.95 a year membership.

You should be able to find out whether your hosting account or theme designer has an affiliate account by looking around their website, if you cannot see one you could try contacting the support team and asking.

If you want to track your clicks you can always create a unique URL for your footer links using the Go Codes plugin.

Try it for yourself and see what it does for you.

To your success,

Hi, Karl – Any reason why we should keep the “wordpress.org” reference in the footer?

I’ve not come across any reason why it needs to be there (other than to show your support for Wordpress.org) unless your theme licence specifies that it must be there.

      Hope that helps,

      Karl

Definitely I will give this a try. I have a question will they pay per click or if they pay when some one buy any theme through me?

Hi Deepika, it’s pay per sale. If someone clicks on your link and then goes on to purchase then you will earn a commission.
